England secured a place in the FIFA World Cup quarterfinals after a thrilling 3-2 victory over tournament hosts Mexico at the iconic Estadio Azteca on Saturday

Despite being reduced to 10 men for a large part of the match, the Three Lions produced a determined display to book a quarterfinal clash with Norway.

Jude Bellingham starred for England with two goals. The midfielder opened the scoring with a superb diving header after meeting an excellent cross from Bukayo Saka before doubling his tally by finishing a well-worked move involving captain Harry Kane.

Mexico fought back before halftime when Julián Quiñones fired home a powerful strike to cut England's lead and ignite the home supporters.

England's task became more difficult after defender Jarrell Quansah was sent off, forcing Thomas Tuchel's side to play the remainder of the match with 10 men. However, the visitors responded positively, with Harry Kane calmly converting a penalty after Anthony Gordon was fouled inside the box to restore England's two-goal advantage.

Mexico continued to press and managed to score again late in the contest, but England defended resolutely to hold on for a memorable victory.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       The result sends England into the World Cup quarterfinals, where they will face Norway as they continue their pursuit of the tournament title.
